在Jodi A. Yager and Thomas S. Ehmann(2006)這篇文獻回顧中，將social skills分成三類：receiving skill、processing skill、以及sending skill。前兩者屬於social cognition的一部份，而sending skill同時包含了communication和social appropriateness。

以下整理出文獻中提到該技巧所需評估的項目：

＊Receiving skill(Social cognition)

the perception and recognition of social cues (Wallace et al., 1980)

1.           辨認他人的情緒

2.           察覺各種社會暗示（肢體動作、口氣、表情）

＊Processing skill(Social cognition)

involve the activation of social schemas in long–term memory.

1.           心智理論－藉由他人的行動、口語表達（如諷刺、笑話、暗喻）了解他人的意圖或期待

2.           歸因－對人事物現象的解釋

3.           社會知識－了解人際間的潛規則、自我概念

4.           社會問題解決能力－決策及問題解決技巧、組織排序一般事件的特質（demonstrate difficulty sequencing the component features of common events（受執行功能影響））；對於社會情境產生並選擇有效率的解決辦法

verbal and nonverbal abilities（leading appropriate manner）
