DEFINITION－social participation in the older adult

關於social function的定義，我是直接以關鍵字來查詢文獻標題，如：social function, social participation, social competence以及definition, concept, theory，並且先挑出一篇文獻回顧來看。

此研究彙整43篇文獻在中老年人對於social participation的定義。內容大致如下：

整體定義：social participation mostly focused on the person’s involvement in activities that provide interaction with others in society or the community。而social participation常會和community participation混用。

核心要素：

1.    Involvement of the person

2.    Social activities and interactions：carried out with others。強調人和環境間的互動。社會活動及互動是人參與在對自己有意義的環境中的結果

          ＊而social support和social network僅表示一種環境特徵，並不屬於social participation。

          ＊部分文獻會將productive (including work and volunteering), community or recreational activities列屬於social activities之內。但在此研究中並未再多做區隔或描述，僅以較狹義的觀點來描述social participation。

          ＊大多文獻認為應該要將daily activity (e.g. feeding, washing, dressing, etc.)排除在social activity之外。日常活動為社會參與的基礎，但並非社會參與的一部份。

此篇研究所指稱之social participation，強調人在社會情境中與其他人產生的互動，而此互動是對自己有意義或是要達到某個目的。雖然研究所針對的對象為中老年人，但這樣的概念應是可以拓展到不同年齡層；我想可以再針對這部分繼續收集資料。

文中未提及social function之定義或與social participation的關聯性，我認為social function應是要比social participation還要基礎的概念，但仍需要再找尋相關資料。
